Funke Akindele critiques young women labeling themselves "baddies" without intellectual depth, emphasizing the need for meaningful content creation. Speaking on Arise TV, she urges influencers to prioritize substance over superficiality and warns against the pitfalls of social media personas.
Filmmaker and award-winning actress Funke Akindele has voiced her concerns about young women who label themselves as "baddies" without showcasing any intellectual substance. Speaking on Arise TV, Akindele emphasized the importance of producing and consuming meaningful content.
Akindele highlighted the responsibility of influencers and content creators to positively impact their audience. She said, “I enjoy watching beautiful content, but you have to watch what you churn out. You need to focus on your brand, what you are selling, and what you want people to learn from you. If you are an actor, a self-made person, you are big up there, what are you churning out for the up-and-coming ones? You must influence their lives positively with the content you churn out.”
She also urged viewers to critically assess the content they consume, questioning whether it is merely for entertainment or if it offers learning value. Akindele cautioned against being misled by appearances on social media, saying, “Because A is carrying designer bags and showing you on video, how sure are you that she is not borrowing the bag, that she is rich? Don't believe everything on social media.”
Her message serves as a call to action for both content creators and consumers to prioritize substance and positive influence in their engagements.
