Amid negotiations for a new minimum wage, the Presidency refutes claims that Finance Minister Wale Edun proposed a N105,000 monthly wage. Speculations arose following a meeting with President Tinubu, but the Presidency swiftly dismissed them as false.

The Presidency has refuted widespread speculations suggesting that Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, had submitted a proposal for a N105,000 monthly national minimum wage to President Bola Tinubu.

Reports circulated earlier, claiming that Edun presented the proposal within a 48-hour deadline set by Tinubu. However, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, dismissed these claims as false via his verified X handle on Thursday evening.

The denial comes amidst ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and Organised Labour following recent strike actions by the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress.
