Former Nigerian football star, Finidi George, emerges as a leading contender for the vacant position of Super Eagles manager, as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) shortlists him along with five other candidates.
The Super Eagles have been without a permanent coach since the departure of Jose Peseiro, who guided the team to a second-place finish at the 2023 AFCON tournament. While hundreds applied for the job, a source from the NFF Technical Committee hinted at Finidi's inclusion among the shortlisted candidates, emphasizing his upcoming role in leading the Super Eagles in international friendlies against Mali and Ghana.
Despite the secrecy surrounding the identities of the other candidates, speculation arises as Basic Sports in Nigeria suggests that Finidi may serve as assistant to Emmanuel Amuneke, who is allegedly recommended by the NFF Technical Committee as the new Super Eagles manager.
Additionally, veteran cadet trainer Manu Garba is rumored to lead the national U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, once again. The developments signal a pivotal moment for Nigerian football as the NFF considers key appointments to shape the future of its national teams
