Early Friday morning, a seven-story building on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island was engulfed in flames, severely damaging multiple shops. The fire erupted around 5:17 a.m., prompting an immediate emergency response.

Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed that firefighters from Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations were deployed promptly after receiving the alarm. They arrived on the scene by 5:33 a.m., just minutes after the fire started. The blaze caused significant panic among residents who scrambled to safety as the fire spread rapidly.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. The Lagos State Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control swiftly, and efforts are now focused on ventilating the area and ensuring the continued safety of nearby residents.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was triggered by an electrical surge. The quick response from emergency services helped to contain the fire before it could spread further, limiting additional damage.
