A fire outbreak early Saturday morning gutted a motor park housing about 38 vehicles at Sawmill Garage in the Odo-Okun area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The incident began around 2:48 a.m., destroying two vehicles—a Toyota Sienna and an 18-seater bus with registration numbers JJJ876HJ and KSF223SK. The bus driver, who had returned from a long-distance trip and was resting inside, noticed flames coming from the bus. Nearby vehicles were moved, but the Toyota Sienna also caught fire before firefighters arrived. Kwara State Fire Service spokesperson Hassan Adekunlu confirmed firefighters contained the blaze by 3:03 a.m., preventing further spread. No casualties were recorded. The Fire Service Director advised vehicle owners to regularly inspect for fuel leaks or electrical faults, maintain spacing between parked vehicles, and keep portable fire extinguishers available.
