Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria's First Lady, defended President Bola Tinubu against claims of causing the country's economic hardships. Speaking at the Ooni of Ife's palace, she emphasized the government's efforts to address challenges, particularly following the removal of fuel subsidies, and expressed optimism for Nigeria's future.

In a recent address at the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria's First Lady, asserted that her husband, President Bola Tinubu, is not responsible for the ongoing economic hardships faced by the nation. Speaking on Thursday, she emphasized that the current administration is actively working to resolve the issues.

“We are just 18 months into our administration,” she stated, highlighting the government's commitment to improving the situation. Oluremi acknowledged the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidies but expressed optimism for the future, asserting that with divine support, Nigeria can overcome its difficulties within two years.

Reflecting on past attempts to remove subsidies, she noted, “Those who attempted to remove the subsidy before could not see it through.” Her comments aimed to rally support, urging the public to pray for the administration’s success in building a better Nigeria.

The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, praised Oluremi for her initiatives, particularly the "One Day Governor" program in Lagos, which offers opportunities for young people. He expressed admiration for her dedication to empowering the youth.

After her speech, Oluremi Tinubu inaugurated a hostel and a road at Ọbafẹmi Awolọwọ University, showcasing her commitment to educational development. As the nation grapples with economic challenges, her remarks reflect a blend of accountability and hope for a brighter future.
