Retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, a former Chief of Defence Staff, has delivered a scathing critique of Nigeria's security landscape, describing the nation as a "disgrace to the world" due to its escalating security challenges.

Speaking at the annual Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival in Taraba State, General Danjuma highlighted the urgent need for decisive action to address the pervasive insecurity plaguing the country. "Nigeria's authorities must take urgent measures to redeem the battered image of the country by addressing the security challenges confronting the nation," asserted General Danjuma, emphasizing the critical importance of ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and visitors alike.

Expressing grave concern over the impact of insecurity on investment and tourism, General Danjuma underscored the necessity of creating a conducive environment for economic growth and development. He lamented that the prevailing insecurity could deter potential investors and tourists from engaging with Nigeria, hindering the nation's progress and prosperity.

Furthermore, General Danjuma urged concerted efforts from all stakeholders to address the root causes of insecurity and restore peace and stability across the country. He emphasized the imperative of effective governance and collaboration to tackle the multifaceted challenges facing Nigeria's security landscape.

In response to General Danjuma's remarks, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State pledged to enhance cooperation between Adamawa and Taraba States to address common security concerns. He affirmed his administration's commitment to fostering cooperation and solidarity in the fight against insecurity.

As Nigeria grapples with persistent security threats, General Danjuma's outspoken criticism serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need for decisive action to confront and overcome the nation's security challenges, restoring its reputation and credibility on the global stage.
