Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has criticized the leadership style of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, asserting that Buhari rarely provided oversight to his cabinet members. Shittu made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today program, emphasizing the need for a more proactive and coordinated approach to governance.
Shittu commended President Bola Tinubu for urging his 48 ministers to fulfill their responsibilities or face dismissal during a three-day Cabinet Retreat. He praised Tinubu for putting pressure on his cabinet members to deliver results and suggested that it is essential to remove ineffective ministers.
Drawing from his experience as a minister in the first term of the Buhari administration, Shittu noted that President Buhari had a more reserved leadership style. According to him, Buhari rarely engaged in supervision and policy formulation, highlighting the need for future governments to establish clear, measurable milestones for each ministry.
