In what seemed to be his final official engagement, the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, visited Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, while his fate was under deliberation by the Kano State House of Assembly.
Adorned in regal attire, he arrived at the GRA Ijebu Ode residence of Awujale to celebrate the latter's 90th birthday and 64th year on the throne. Bayero, alongside dignitaries like Commissioner Ganiyu Hamzat and Senator Lanre Tejuoso, expressed reverence for Awujale, considering him akin to his father due to familial ties.
He highlighted the cultural and commercial similarities between Kano and Ijebu, emphasizing their shared traditions and economic activities. Bayero cherished the opportunity to seek wisdom from Awujale, citing their familial and historical connections.
However, within 24 hours of his visit, Bayero was dethroned as the Emir of Kano, and replaced by Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, who had been deposed earlier by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf officially appointed Sanusi as the new Emir, marking the end of Bayero's reign and signaling a swift transition in Kano's traditional leadership.
