Former Kano Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has denied accepting bribes throughout his tenure, emphasizing his integrity and adherence to moral principles. He revealed he still lives in a rented apartment in Abuja, attributing his values to his work with the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN).
In a recent press briefing in Abuja, former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau firmly denied ever accepting bribes during his tenure. Shekarau, who led Kano for eight years, claimed he maintained strict financial integrity and never engaged in bribery or misappropriated local government funds.
He emphasized that he had never negotiated with contractors and still resides in a rented apartment in Abuja, despite his long public service. Shekarau attributed his adherence to moral principles to his involvement with the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), where he serves as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
He highlighted MSSN's recent achievements, including acquiring land in Abuja for its headquarters after a decade-long struggle. Shekarau reiterated MSSN's commitment to enhancing the Muslim community's educational, economic, spiritual, and political engagement through various initiatives.
The MSSN, established in 1954, continues to expand its influence across Nigeria with 37,000 branches, striving to foster unity and active political participation among its members.
