Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello visited the EFCC headquarters voluntarily to honor an invitation, but he was not interrogated. The EFCC clarified that he remains wanted for an ongoing investigation into financial crimes, emphasizing his commitment to clearing his name and respecting the rule of law.

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello recently visited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters, where his media team emphasized that the visit was voluntary and not an interrogation. Bello arrived at the EFCC office alongside his successor, Usman Ododo, to honor an invitation from the agency after consulting with his legal team and political associates.

Despite the visit, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale clarified that Bello is not in custody and remains a wanted figure in connection with ongoing investigations. In a statement, Bello's Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, confirmed that the former governor was allowed to leave without being questioned by EFCC officials. Michael reiterated Bello's commitment to respecting the rule of law and due process, stating that the former governor sought to clear his name, insisting he has nothing to hide.

The case involving Bello is currently under judicial review, and he has been represented by his legal team at every hearing. The former governor’s decision to attend the EFCC's invitation underscores his determination to address the allegations against him directly. As the investigation continues, further developments are anticipated regarding Bello's legal situation and the EFCC's ongoing efforts to combat corruption in Nigeria.
