Former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi has expressed frustration over the lack of action from Nigerians amid the current economic hardships. In a recent interview with Igbere TV, Amaechi criticized the public's complacency, stating he expected widespread protests from youth against the soaring cost of living, but has seen little indication of such mobilization.

Amaechi remarked, “People should be angry because you cannot see a group of people stealing your money without doing anything. I am angry with the citizens because they are not doing anything.” He cited the situation in Edo State, questioning how politicians could continue campaigning while many are struggling.

The former governor of Rivers State highlighted the severe impact of rising diesel prices on daily life, saying, “Some of us cannot afford to buy diesel again because it’s costly.” His comments reflect a broader concern about the economic situation in Nigeria, where many are grappling with increased living costs and inadequate responses from both the government and the public.

Amaechi, who served as Minister of Transportation for nearly eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, believes that more should be done to hold leaders accountable for the current economic challenges facing the nation.
