Nigeria has lost one of its elder statesmen. Former senator and diplomat Professor Jibril Aminu has died at the age of 85, following a prolonged illness.
- Professor Aminu passed away on Wednesday, June 5, in Abuja
- He served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States (1999–2003)
- Represented Adamawa Central in the Senate from 2003 to 2011
- Trained as a heart specialist, earned degrees from UI and London
- Survived by two wives and nine children
As Nigeria prepares for a new political season, voices like Aminu’s, shaped by intellect, service, and global experience, will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace.
