Maharazu Tsiga, the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was freed on February 28, 2025, after spending 22 days in captivity. He was abducted on February 6 from his residence in Katsina State by a gang of bandits led by notorious kingpin Babaro. The bandits initially demanded a ransom of N250 million, though it remains unclear whether any money was paid for Tsiga’s release. Government officials and security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have yet to comment on the details of his release.
