Clement Haastrup, the former deputy governor of Osun State, has been named the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland. Haastrup, a prince from the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House, was selected after a competitive process that saw him defeat nine other candidates.
He succeeds the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran as the 49th Owa Obokun. The selection took place at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat in Ilesa on Friday. Haastrup’s emergence has generated significant attention as he takes on this prestigious role, continuing the leadership legacy in the region.
