Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Federal Government, has claimed that Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, won the February 25 presidential election, not Bola Tinubu, who was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and affirmed by the presidential election petition tribunal.
In a statement, Lawal said that data from independent sources indicated that Peter Obi had the majority of votes, with Atiku coming second and Bola Tinubu a distant third in the number of votes scored.
He further asserted that Tinubu knew he was not going to win the election in a free and fair contest, which is why he decided to go to great lengths to secure victory.
Lawal called on Bola Tinubu to resign, given the uncomplimentary information about him that is now being revealed, urging him to save himself from public humiliation and embarrassment.
He also criticized Tinubu's political appointments, suggesting they favored supporters over competence, and expressed concern about issues like fuel prices, the devaluation of the Naira, and rising insecurity in the country.
Lawal emphasized that leadership is about integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to unite and instill hope and confidence in the people, qualities he believed Tinubu lacked.
