Renowned DJ Tim Westwood, amidst allegations of sexual misconduct in the UK, has pivoted his career by relocating to Lagos, Nigeria, to pursue a culinary venture as a chef. The controversy arose in July 2020 when Global Media & Entertainment, the parent company of Capital Xtra, faced criticism for allegedly disregarding online accusations from predominantly Black female fans.
In response, Westwood vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them baseless. Nonetheless, the Metropolitan Police Force confirmed in 2022 an ongoing investigation into multiple sexual offense claims dating back four decades.
Fleeing legal scrutiny, Westwood left the UK for Ghana, as per a 2022 social media post. Currently based in Lagos, Nigeria, he seeks to redefine himself professionally.
However, Westwood's reinvention sparks controversy among Nigerians familiar with his past. Many advocate for his extradition to the UK to face allegations.
Despite the outcry, Westwood maintains a presence in Nigeria's entertainment sphere. His upcoming appearance at the Oniru Private Beach in Victoria Island, promoting a "FREE entry" nightlife event, amplifies debates on accountability and justice amid serious allegations.
