The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) will acquire helicopters and drones for quicker emergency response and victim evacuation in Nigeria. This initiative, part of a Public-Private Partnership, aims to enhance safety by positioning air ambulances near trauma centers on accident-prone routes, using advanced technology to save lives.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is set to enhance its response capabilities with the acquisition of helicopters and drones, aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of accident victim evacuations across Nigeria. The Federal Government announced the plan during the FRSC Management Retreat in Abuja on November 5, 2024.

Deputy Corps Marshal Clement Oladele revealed that discussions are already underway with private sector partners to acquire these air assets. The new fleet, which will include helicopters and air ambulances, will be strategically positioned near trauma centers along accident-prone routes to provide rapid evacuation services.

The initiative, which is part of a broader Public-Private Partnership, is expected to significantly improve emergency response times, potentially saving countless lives. In addition to the helicopters, drones will be deployed to assist in monitoring accident scenes and gathering crucial data, aiding decision-making during emergencies. Oladele emphasized that the new technology will allow for quicker and more coordinated responses to accidents, ensuring better medical care and reducing the time between injury and treatment.
