Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has invited Assembly members for a crucial meeting following a Supreme Court ruling. The agenda includes Assembly sittings, unpaid allowances, and the 2025 budget. With political tensions rising, the meeting’s outcome could shape Rivers State’s governance.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has invited members of the State House of Assembly for a critical meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Monday, March 10, at 10:00 AM. The meeting comes in the wake of a Supreme Court judgment that has added fresh urgency to the state’s ongoing political dispute.

According to a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, and addressed to Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the discussion will cover key governance issues. Among the topics on the agenda are securing a designated venue for Assembly sittings, clearing unpaid allowances owed to lawmakers, and addressing the 2025 budget.

This invitation follows the Assembly’s recent 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Fubara, demanding that he present the state’s budget. The governor, however, insists that the meeting is aimed at fostering cooperation and ensuring the stability of Rivers State’s governance.

Political observers note that this meeting could either ease tensions or deepen the division between the executive and legislative arms. With both sides holding firm positions, the outcome is expected to shape the future of governance in Rivers State.
