Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, defies the Inspector General of Police's (IGP) opposition to the state's upcoming local government elections. Fubara accuses the IGP of bias and interference, insisting that the polls will go on despite a lack of police security, even if it puts his life at risk.

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has accused the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of trying to interfere in the upcoming local government elections. Fubara strongly declared that the polls would proceed despite any police opposition, citing court rulings and criticizing the police for their involvement.

Fubara stated that while the court had ruled that voter registers and police security should not be provided, it did not prohibit the elections. He further challenged the IGP’s authority, asserting that the elections would hold, even if it meant risking his life. Fubara emphasized his commitment to ensuring the elections proceed and reassured Rivers residents of their continuity.
