The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora has released the names of 265 students and teachers from St. Mary’s School, Papiri, who remain in captivity after the November 21 mass abduction. While 50 students have miraculously escaped, the majority, including nursery pupils as young as three, are still held by bandits, leaving families and a nation in anguish and uncertainty.

Key Details:
  • 315 people were originally abducted—303 students and 12 teachers
  • 50 students have since escaped from captivity
  • 265 individuals remain hostages, including 239 nursery/primary pupils, 14 secondary students, and 12 staff members
  • The attack occurred on November 21 at St. Mary's School in Niger State
  • The diocese continues to appeal for their safe return
