Funke Akindele’s film EverybodyLovesJenifa (ELJ) broke records by earning N206 million in its opening weekend. The film set a new Nollywood record with 38,353 tickets sold and N87.8 million in a single day. ELJ also debuted in 30 countries, marking significant international success.

Funke Akindele’s latest film, EverybodyLovesJenifa (ELJ), has set a new record at the Nigerian box office, grossing a staggering N206 million during its opening weekend. Released on December 13, 2024, the film achieved remarkable success, with its first day earning N45.22 million—30% more than her previous film, A Tribe Called Judah.

The film’s impressive opening weekend sales totaled 38,353 tickets, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2024 and the biggest opening weekend in the industry’s history. Additionally, EverybodyLovesJenifa set a new record for the highest single-day gross in Nollywood history, earning N87.8 million in one day.

Despite not being screened at Genesis Cinemas and missing part of the day at Silverbird Cinemas, the film managed to achieve these groundbreaking numbers. The film has also expanded its reach internationally, debuting across 30 countries through Nile Group Entertainment.

Funke Akindele expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post, thanking the Nigerian audience for their support. The success of EverybodyLovesJenifa marks a major milestone in Nollywood’s growth, showcasing the global appeal of Nigerian cinema.
