Funke Akindele faces backlash after skitmaker Ijoba Lande reveals he was allegedly paid just 90k for a month of work on the series My Siblings and I in 2017. Critics argue she took advantage of his inexperience, while others defend the payment as reasonable for the time.

Funke Akindele is once again facing criticism on social media after skit maker Ijoba Lande shared his experience of allegedly being underpaid during a production with the actress. In a recent video, Lande revealed that he worked on the popular series My Siblings and I in 2017, where he played a small role as a gateman. He stated that, after spending a month on set, he was paid just 90,000 Naira for his work, a fee that he claimed was agreed upon by Funke’s production manager, Wendy.

Lande explained that, despite his excitement to be invited by a big star like Funke, he was unaware of what to expect financially. Once on set, he was handed a form detailing the payment terms and felt trapped, as leaving the production mid-way would have been unwise. He admitted that if he had been more experienced, he would have negotiated a better deal. Lande's story has sparked a heated debate online, with some Nigerians defending Funke, arguing that the 90k was a fair amount given the time and context, while others believe she exploited his inexperience.

This incident adds to a growing list of complaints about Funke’s treatment of her crew, with makeup artists, editors, and other crew members voicing similar concerns since 2023.
