APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje declared Osun and Oyo as the party’s next targets after Lucky Aiyedatiwa's landslide reelection in Ondo State. Ganduje aims to establish political dominance in the South-West ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship race, reflecting the APC's strategic plans for regional influence.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is setting its sights on winning the governorship elections in Osun and Oyo states, according to Abdullahi Ganduje, the party's national chairman. Ganduje made the declaration on Sunday in Akure, Ondo State, after the APC's resounding victory in the state’s governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor and APC candidate, as the winner. Aiyedatiwa secured a significant win, claiming all 18 local government areas with 366,781 votes. His closest opponent, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), garnered 117,845 votes, while Nejo Adeyemi of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) managed only 4,138 votes.

Speaking alongside notable party members, including Governors Babagana Zulum of Borno and Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Ganduje emphasized the APC's ambition to consolidate its political influence in the South-West region. He described the move as an effort to create "political homogeneity" within the geo-political zone.

“Our focus now is the South-West. We have a clear target, and we are committed to achieving it,” Ganduje stated, hinting at strategic preparations for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
