APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje denies Peter Obi's claim of life threats from party spokesperson Felix Morka, calling it a ploy for attention. Ganduje accuses Obi of inciting supporters and defends Morka's remarks as non-threatening.
Abdullahi Ganduje, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has refuted allegations by Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, that his life is at risk due to remarks made by an APC spokesperson. Ganduje dismissed the accusations as an attempt to garner unwarranted attention.
The controversy began after Peter Obi’s New Year message, where he criticized the current government for deep-seated corruption, economic struggles, and a growing debt crisis. In response, Felix Morka, the APC’s spokesperson, labeled Obi a “prophet of doom” during an interview, claiming Obi had repeatedly crossed certain boundaries.
Shortly after, Obi alleged that Morka’s comments threatened his safety and questioned whether his criticism of the administration warranted such reactions.
In his defense, Ganduje argued that Morka’s statements were misinterpreted and insisted that no threats were made against Obi or his family. Instead, Ganduje accused Obi of provoking his supporters to issue threats against Morka and his loved ones.
Ganduje described Obi’s actions as an attempt to play the victim and manipulate public sentiment for political gain. He emphasized that the APC would continue to counter any misinformation and defend President Tinubu’s administration against baseless criticisms from opposition figures.
The APC chairman urged Obi to be more responsible in his statements, stating that the ruling party remains focused on addressing national challenges rather than engaging in unnecessary distractions.
