Ghana and South Africa have mutually agreed to implement a visa waiver for holders of ordinary passports starting from November 1, 2023. This decision allows citizens of both countries to stay within each other's territories for up to 90 days without the need for a visa for tourism or business purposes.
Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration confirmed this arrangement, emphasizing that travelers should be aware of the new visa-free regime but also stated that employment during this period is not allowed.
The South African High Commission in Ghana issued a similar statement, clarifying that the visa waiver is intended for tourists and business visitors. However, it was made clear that individuals wishing to extend their stay beyond the 90-day period or engage in activities requiring a work permit must apply for a visa.
