Ghanaian singer Afua Asantewaa fell short of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon in December 2023, according to a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
Despite enduring a five-day singing marathon from December 24 to 29, 2023, Asantewaa's attempt concluded at 105 hours, six hours and 55 minutes less than the existing record set in 2012.
The Guinness World Records acknowledged the inspirational impact on her fans and expressed hopes for her future attempts while refunding the payment made for a priority review.
Asantewaa, emotionally concluding her attempt with Osibisa’s ‘Woyaya,’ was later honored with the national anthem and appointed as a Tourism Ambassador by the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The delayed results sparked rumors, but the Guinness World Record clarified that her review had already begun before the priority service request, leading to the refund of the payment.
