Google has updated its Demand Gen ads with new features, including expanded placement controls, vertical video formats, and enhanced reporting tools. These updates help businesses optimize campaigns across YouTube and Google’s visual platforms while improving ad performance measurement. Video action campaigns will transition to Demand Gen by mid-2025.
Google has introduced updates to its Demand Gen advertising platform to improve performance measurement across YouTube and other visual surfaces. Originally launched in 2023, Demand Gen helps businesses engage customers and drive sales.
In a blog post, Nicky Rettke, Google’s vice president of product management, emphasized the platform’s role in targeting audiences at moments of inspiration, especially on YouTube. With 61% of Gen Z users feeling a strong connection to creators on the platform, Google aims to optimize ad placements and creative formats.
Among the updates, Google is rolling out expanded control options for ad placements across all Demand Gen-supported channels by March 2025. Additionally, vertical video ads (9:16 format) will be available for YouTube Shorts, while retailers can enhance campaigns with product feeds that provide instant access to product details and availability.
To improve performance tracking, Google has also introduced new reporting tools that allow advertisers to compare Demand Gen campaigns with their paid social media efforts. These tools help businesses make informed budget decisions and analyze their ad impact across platforms.
Furthermore, Google announced plans to transition video action campaigns to Demand Gen by mid-2025, ensuring a seamless upgrade for advertisers.
