Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf announces plans to name second-class Emirs for three newly established Emirates. The move, following the signing of the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024, aims to strengthen traditional institutions and enhance local administration, fostering peace and development across the state.

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State announced the impending selection of second-class Emirs to govern the newly established second-class Emirates. Flanked by Deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and Speaker Rt. Hon. Jibril Falgore, the Governor made this declaration after signing the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024 into law at the Kano State Government House.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the creation of the Emirates demonstrates the government's recognition of traditional institutions. He noted the traditional leadership’s pivotal role in administration, peace, and community development. The Governor expressed confidence that the new Emirates would enhance local administration and preserve cultural heritage. He called for the new Emirates to promote unity, peace, and development across the state.

The Governor extended his gratitude to the Kano State House of Assembly for passing the bill, acknowledging their role in addressing the people's aspirations. The bill's passage marks a significant milestone in preserving and enhancing Kano's cultural heritage and traditional institutions.

Speaker Jibril Falgore stated that the newly passed bill aims to improve the economy of the Emirates and bring the government closer to the people. The new second-class Emirates include Rano Emirate (Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya), Karaye Emirate (Karaye, Rogo), and Gaya Emirate (Gaya, Ajingi, Albasu).

This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to recognizing traditional institutions' contributions to maintaining peace and stability. The announcement of the second-class Emirs is anticipated to follow soon, further solidifying the state's efforts to enhance local governance and cultural preservation.
