Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke suspects sabotage in a recent near air mishap involving a private jet he was to fly from Lagos to Abuja. The incident occurred at the domestic wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, where the aircraft owned by his brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, was found to have an engine fault just as it began taxiing. The pilot promptly detected the issue, and passengers were safely evacuated.
Adeleke's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the aircraft's excellent maintenance and skilled crew. He dismissed claims that bird nests caused the problem, as the aircraft had binding wires, not straw-based nests. Early reports indicate possible sabotage, but authorities are conducting investigations.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation of Nigeria, Capt. Musa Nuhu, explained that the incident involved a normal procedure in aviation where a pilot abandons takeoff due to a snag. He urged against sensationalism and noted that a mandatory occurrence report was filed with the NCAA as required.
The incident highlights the need for thorough investigations to determine whether it was indeed sabotage or a technical issue
