Speaking to journalists in Akure, the state capital, Aiyedatiwa thanked residents for entrusting him with a renewed mandate beyond 2025.
“I am deeply grateful to the people of Ondo for this renewed mandate. I promise to serve diligently and prioritize the development of our state,” he said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner. He secured 366,781 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes. Other contenders included Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), who polled 1,162 votes, and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
The announcement was made by INEC’s Returning Officer, Professor Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja. Aiyedatiwa’s victory extends his tenure as governor, emphasizing continuity in his administration’s programs and policies.
