Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has taken to his social media handle to congratulate his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, on his 56th birthday.
The gesture comes amid a veiled feud between the two governors, plunging Rivers State into political turmoil. Fubara shared a flier featuring Wike in traditional attire, expressing warm wishes for joy and good health.
The political crisis escalated with an impeachment attempt against Fubara, triggering protests and defections of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Factional Speaker Edison Ehie declared the seats vacant, and on Wednesday, bulldozers entered the state House of Assembly premises, demolishing the complex, marking a critical juncture in the ongoing political unrest.
