Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, declared his unwavering commitment to implementing the eight-point presidential peace agreement aimed at resolving the political crisis in the state. In a Christmas Broadcast, Governor Fubara assured the public that the agreement would be executed without compromising the collective interest of the people and democratic values.
Addressing the skepticism surrounding the peace pact, Governor Fubara emphasized that it is not a "death sentence" but an opportunity to achieve much-needed stability in the state. He commended both sides for demonstrating goodwill, citing positive actions such as the withdrawal of an impeached notice by the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly and the release of withheld allowances by his government.
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for intervening in the political crisis, Governor Fubara acknowledged the support of the people during challenging times. He pledged to uphold governance standards and consult widely for the betterment of the state.
Encouraging citizens to embrace the teachings of Jesus Christ during the Christmas celebration, Governor Fubara outlined plans for improved development in 2024. This includes the completion of strategic infrastructure projects, such as a section of the Ring Road Project and the long-abandoned Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro unity road.
As Governor Fubara sets a positive tone for the new year, the state anticipates progress and resolution following the commitment to the Presidential Peace Pact.
