A violent attack in Plateau State’s Bassa Local Government Area on April 14, 2025, resulted in the deaths of 51 residents, sparking outrage and concern across the state. The assault took place in the early hours, as over 100 armed assailants targeted Zikke and Kimakpa communities. Many homes were destroyed in the raid, leaving scores of people in shock and despair.
In response to the tragedy, Governor Caleb Mutfwang convened an emergency meeting with the State Security Council to address the surge in attacks. He assured citizens that the state government was taking immediate action to restore peace and security, emphasizing that efforts to prevent further bloodshed would be prioritized.
Although security forces were dispatched and managed to engage the attackers, the damage was severe, with 36 individuals killed on the spot and several others succumbing to injuries.
