Governor Godwin Obaseki has called on Edo residents to remain peaceful and avoid violence following the September 21 gubernatorial election. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Monday Okpebholo the winner, defeating Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a broadcast, Obaseki acknowledged the frustration and disappointment felt by many residents but urged them to follow legal channels if aggrieved. He emphasized that democracy provides avenues for challenging unjust outcomes, asking citizens to trust in the judicial process to resolve grievances.

Obaseki also reassured residents of the government’s commitment to their safety and well-being, urging them to continue their lawful activities.
