The Borno State Government has denied rumors that Governor Babagana Zulum's son is being held in India for alleged murder. According to a statement from the governor’s office, these claims are completely false.

Governor Zulum’s media aide, Abdurrahman Bundi, clarified that the governor was on vacation in Saudi Arabia for the 2024 Hajj and then attended a conference in Egypt. The false story originated from an online blog, Nairaland, which incorrectly reported that Zulum’s son was arrested for murder in India and that the governor traveled there to resolve the issue.

The governor’s office warned Nairaland and others spreading this misinformation to remove it and apologize within 24 hours or face legal action. They emphasized that no son of Governor Zulum has been arrested or involved in any crime.

The statement urged the public to be cautious about believing and sharing unverified information and called on media outlets to ensure accuracy in their reporting to avoid spreading false news.
