Former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) has declared that President Bola Tinubu is doing his best for Nigeria's socioeconomic development, covering political, economic, social, and security sectors. Speaking after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Gowon stated: "As far as it goes, isn't he doing the best he can all round? Political, economic, social, etc, and of course, the major problem that we have today, the security, he's doing everything to deal with that for the good of Nigeria." The elder statesman said he came to thank Tinubu for "all the good work that he's doing for the country" and to discuss progress Nigeria is making economically. On security, Gowon added: "The problem that is happening today, it is only the government, Mr. President, that can rally and deal with it, and he is dealing with it, the best he can without creating any problem for the country."
