Brighton staged a stunning comeback against Manchester City, claiming a 2-1 victory at the Amex Stadium in a dramatic Premier League clash. City's rough patch continued with this third consecutive defeat, following recent losses to Bournemouth in the Premier League and a 4-1 setback to Sporting CP in the Champions League.
City initially dominated the match, with Erling Haaland breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute, slotting in a deflected shot past Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen. Haaland nearly doubled City’s lead minutes later, but Verbruggen thwarted the effort with a stellar save.
Brighton, however, turned the tide in the second half. They applied consistent pressure, finally breaking through in the 78th minute when Joao Pedro pounced on a rebound, bringing the score to 1-1. Just five minutes later, Matt O’Riley found space in the box and drilled a low strike past City goalkeeper Ederson, sealing Brighton's 2-1 lead.
Despite City's late attempts to equalize, Brighton held on for a memorable victory, intensifying City's recent struggles in their Premier League title defense.
