Josephine Adeh, the police public relations officer (PPRO) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed concern over the increasing rate of heartbreaks among Nigerian women. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Adeh lamented the prevalence of failed relationships, attributing the distressing trend to Nigerian men who lead women on without serious intentions.

Adeh noted that a significant portion of her recent cases involves women reporting emotional distress caused by men who abandon them. While she did not provide detailed statistics, Adeh described the situation as "distasteful" and urged men to avoid entering relationships if they were not prepared for commitment. "It’s distasteful to lead a woman on and then break her heart. The rate at which men are doing this is saddening. Most of the calls I receive these days are from women sharing their experiences in tears. Men, please, don’t start a relationship if you don’t want anything serious,” she wrote.

In the comments section of her post, Bright Edafe, the Delta State police PRO, shared his perspective, suggesting that many women enter relationships with high expectations and are often disappointed. He also warned women against dating internet fraudsters, implying that such relationships are doomed from the start. “I feel women get into relationships with too much expectation. Most women are not ready to invest in men. And secondly, if you are in a relationship with a Yahoo boy, forget it, you are single. Meanwhile, you know I can’t break your heart sha,” Edafe commented.
