In the early hours of Monday, April 14, 2025, a horrific attack occurred in Zikke, Kwall District, Plateau State, when suspected herdsmen militias launched a brutal assault on the Irigwe community. The attack, which lasted for over 90 minutes, resulted in the deaths of 51 individuals, including men, women, and children. Numerous homes were destroyed, and several families were left devastated by the violence.
The victims, mostly from the Irigwe ethnic group, were killed in cold blood between midnight and 1:30 a.m., and their names have been released by the Irigwe Youth Movement. The movement described this as part of a broader pattern of violence against their community and called for urgent action by the government and humanitarian organizations.
