The House of Representatives has rejected bribery claims made by Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, stating that they are attempts to tarnish Nigerian institutions.
Gambaryan alleged that some lawmakers demanded a $150 million bribe amid Binance’s dispute with the Federal Government. However, House spokesperson Akin Rotimi Jr. clarified on Saturday that the accusations were aimed at individual lawmakers, not the institution itself.
He emphasized that these claims had circulated before and were now being recycled to discredit Nigeria’s governance. The House urged the public to rely on verified information rather than misleading narratives.
Some lawmakers named in the allegations have denied involvement and initiated legal action to defend their reputations. The statement also highlighted that the Nigerian government rejected Binance’s financial settlement offer, reinforcing its commitment to national interest over corporate influence.
With the case now a subject of diplomatic discussions between Nigeria and the U.S., the House said it would refrain from further comment in line with judicial and parliamentary protocols. It reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, accountability, and protecting Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
