On July 20, 2024, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and lawmakers visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos. The visit aimed to support the project and investigate conspiracy allegations against the refinery. The House plans to form a committee to probe these claims and the refinery's crude oil access issues.

On July 20, 2024, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, alongside other lawmakers, visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos. This visit aimed to demonstrate support for the project and address allegations of conspiracy from international oil companies against the refinery. The delegation, hosted by Aliko Dangote and key refinery executives, toured the facility, which boasts a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

During the visit, the lawmakers were updated on the refinery's progress and its imminent petrol supply start in August. However, the refinery faces challenges, including difficulties in securing necessary crude oil and allegations of sabotage from international oil firms. The House of Representatives announced plans to form an ad hoc committee to investigate these claims and the failure of NNPC Limited to acquire a 20% stake in the refinery.

This visit follows a similar one in June, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senate leaders also toured the refinery, expressing support and acknowledging its importance to Nigeria's economy. The Dangote refinery is a pivotal project for Nigeria, expected to significantly impact the nation’s economic landscape by enhancing domestic fuel production and reducing reliance on imports.
