Dele Farotimi, a human rights advocate, faces defamation charges for his book Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System. Despite allegations, Farotimi remains undeterred, proclaiming he has no fear amid his ongoing trial. Released on bail, he faces charges in two courts, including cybercrime.
Dele Farotimi, a prominent human rights advocate, has expressed confidence and fearlessness amid his ongoing trial for alleged defamation. Farotimi was released on December 24 from the Ekiti State correctional facility after fulfilling his bail conditions. The activist faces 14 charges, including accusations of criminal defamation against Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), related to his book, Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System.
Despite the legal challenges, Farotimi remains undeterred. In a recent post on his X page, he boldly declared that he harbors no fear, stating, “I face no fears. I have none.” He further emphasized his resilience, referencing the power of deities and asserting that no force could bring him down.
Farotimi is currently facing charges in two separate courts, one related to defamation and the other involving cybercrime. On December 9, the Federal High Court in Ekiti granted him bail in the amount of N50 million, with one surety, for the cybercrime charges filed by the Inspector-General of Police.
