Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, voiced his disappointment on Monday, revealing that only one of the three major 2023 presidential candidates, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, had not reached out to commiserate with him following the recent explosion in Ibadan.
Makinde, while receiving a visit from Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, emphasized the troubling message Atiku's silence sent about his character and judgment.
The explosion in Adeji, Old Bodija, resulted in five fatalities, 77 injuries, and damage to 58 houses. Despite the tragedy, Makinde commended Obi for his non-political condolence visit and urged a focus on governance over politics in times of crisis.
Meanwhile, Obi called for a reduction in the cost of federal governance to address the country's economic challenges.
