In a recent situation report, the National Emergency Management Agency's (NEMA) South West Zonal Office revealed that the explosion at Adeyi Estate in Bodija, Ibadan, was caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The distress alert was received at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, prompting the swift deployment of response agencies. On reaching the scene, NEMA observed a suspected IED explosion affecting over 20 houses, with casualty figures yet to be determined.
The report outlined the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including the NPF, NSCDC, DSS, SEMA, Nigeria Army, and others. Search and rescue operations were temporarily halted for responders to refresh and resumed at 7:00 a.m. today.
Security has been intensified in the area, with additional resources mobilized to support ongoing operations, ensuring the situation is under control.
