The NDLEA arrested a UNILORIN student and a fresh graduate in Ilorin for producing and distributing drug-laced cupcakes. Authorities recovered 42 drugged cakes during the raid. Separately, 149,090 pills were seized in Kano. The NDLEA continues its War Against Drug Abuse campaign through sensitization programs and enforcement efforts nationwide.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended two individuals, Khadijat Abdulraheem, a 24-year-old fresh graduate, and Ayomide Morakinyo, a 20-year-old University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) student, for allegedly producing and distributing drug-laced cupcakes to students in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the suspects were arrested on December 29, 2024, following credible intelligence. The operation took place at an apartment on Tanke-University of Ilorin Road, Oke Odo, where NDLEA operatives recovered 42 drug-infused cupcakes.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives in Kano State raided the Mafarki area on December 31, 2024. The raid led to the seizure of 149,090 pills of tramadol and exol-5 from a suspected dealer, 45-year-old Ismail Muhammad.

The NDLEA has been intensifying efforts to combat drug abuse through its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) initiative. Recent sensitization campaigns targeted traders in Ekiti State, worshippers in Jigawa State, and other communities.

Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the operatives for their achievements, emphasizing the agency's balanced approach to reducing drug supply and promoting awareness.
