In a tumultuous turn of events, the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State took a further downward spiral as the State Assembly suspended Hon Edison Ehie, the Leader of the House, and those who remained loyal to Governor Fubara. The session, presided over by Speaker Rt Hon Martins Amaewhule, witnessed the suspension of key political figures amid a charged atmosphere.
Reports indicate that the explosion that rocked the Assembly the previous night was allegedly orchestrated to prevent lawmakers from accessing the Assembly on Monday. Despite the upheaval, a group of lawmakers managed to make their way into the House as early as 7 am. They swiftly convened a plenary session, where they collectively signed an impeachment notice against Governor Fubara, intensifying the political crisis.
