Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, condemned Rotimi Amaechi’s inciteful statements calling for violence in politics. Matawalle warned that any attempts to destabilize Nigeria’s peace would be met with legal consequences, reaffirming the government’s commitment to national unity and security under President Tinubu’s leadership.
Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, has sharply condemned recent remarks made by former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, which allegedly called for politicians to engage in criminal acts like theft and violence to maintain power. Speaking at a conference in Abuja, Amaechi’s comments were described as reckless and harmful, as they not only insulted Nigerians but also encouraged violence and unrest.
Matawalle expressed his disappointment, stressing that such inflammatory rhetoric could incite political instability and mislead young Nigerians. He reminded the public that Nigeria is governed by law and not by brute force or violence. The Defence Minister further warned that security agencies were closely monitoring such activities, and any individuals or groups attempting to destabilize the country would face severe repercussions.
In his statement, Matawalle underscored that power in Nigeria should be gained through democratic processes, not through intimidation or lawlessness. He praised President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring peace and national development, affirming that the government would continue to defend democratic values and national security. Additionally, Matawalle cautioned that Amaechi’s politically divisive actions would not be tolerated, and urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s leadership for a prosperous and secure future.
