INEC has assured Ondo voters of a smooth and transparent governorship election on November 16, 2024. With sensitive materials already distributed to local governments, the commission promises to deliver a successful election process, ensuring all registered areas are prepared for the polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reassured voters in Ondo State that it is fully prepared for the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024. INEC’s National Commissioner, Professor Kunle Ajayi, gave this assurance during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, emphasizing that the commission has completed all necessary preparations and would not disappoint the people of the state. Ajayi expressed pride in the commission’s efforts, stressing that voters could expect a smooth electoral process.
As part of the election preparations, INEC began distributing sensitive materials to the state's various local government areas on Thursday, ahead of the election. The distribution was carried out at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Akure, monitored by party agents, armed security personnel, and commercial buses contracted by INEC. Unlike the recent Edo State election, Ajayi confirmed that all registered areas in Ondo had received their materials on time.
Ajayi further assured that, by 3 PM on the day before the election, all registered areas had received their sensitive materials, with the next step being the delivery of these materials to polling units. He expressed confidence that the election process would proceed smoothly and without incident, noting his own inspection of some of the distribution points earlier that day.
