Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo is under intense scrutiny for his connection to the ongoing scandal within the Humanitarian Ministry. His company, New Planet Project, reportedly received substantial consultancy fees, sparking calls for his suspension.
While some argue that Tunji-Ojo's work in passport reforms makes him indispensable, others demand parity with the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu.
The minister, no stranger to controversy, previously faced allegations during the NDDC probe and encountered scrutiny over his NYSC certificate. Despite these scandals, Tunji-Ojo's strategies, including timely media appearances and emphasis on compliance with regulations, seem to be working, with the President showing no inclination to suspend him.
However, recent developments indicate the minister's failure to appear before the Code of Conduct Bureau, requesting a new date for his interview.
